Urban Colony is thrilled to announce our new associate, Ramona M. Sliva! Ramona has been working with us for three months now, but we’ve been so busy we’ve neglected to tell you all about her–and there is lots to tell!

Ramona is an interior decorator, stylist, and stager who has been working in the industry for eight years, working mostly in the Santa Monica, Brentwood and Malibu areas. She has taken on numerous projects, including her favorite: converting a 1950’s bathroom into a Moroccan-themed one. The tiles and woodwork were custom designed by Ramona and made in Morocco (and the client was so thrilled, she invited Ramona to her birthday celebration in Marakesh in 2011).

Ramona’s style is to engage her clients by surrounding them with unique textures and interesting objects, while instilling a sense of calmness. Her two passions are shopping and travel. Her biggest design thrill was when a client gave her carte-blanche to decorate an entire floor of her beachfront home, and afterwards said “of all the homes my fiance has around the world, this is my favorite.”

Ramona has known Robert for many years, starting in the days she purchased furnishings from him in his wholesale business. They share an enthusiasm for great design and for providing excellent customer service. She is generally at the store on Sundays and Mondays, and will be happy to meet with clients by appointment any other day.

Urban Colony is participating in the “Shops on the Block” 20×20 Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, May 30, from 10am to 6pm. There will be $20 sale items, as well as 20% off selected items, from about 20 local vendors on Ventura Blvd., between Woodman Ave. and Greenbush St. It should be a great time, so please stop by and join the fun–and savings!

Urban Colony will be closed in observance of Memorial Day this Sunday and Monday, May 24 & 25. We will reopen Tuesday, May 26 at 10am, and have several floor models on sale!  Also we are offering 20% off all new custom orders through the end of May (just mention this post).

The first three Thursdays of December, Urban Colony (along with the many other neighboring merchants of “The Shops @ Woodman & Ventura”) will be having a “Happy Hour” from 4-7pm.  Food and beverages will be offered as well as special pricing.  Urban Colony will offer 15% off every regularly priced item–including custom order–during the Happy Hour!

On Sunday, December 7th “The Shops @ Woodman & Ventura” will be celebrating the holidays with all merchants offering discount pricing, a raffle for giveaways with proceeds going to charity, strolling singers, Santa Claus, activities for the kids, and much more!  Mark your calendar to to join us and get all your holiday shopping in one trip and have fun at the same time!

It has been 6 months since we moved from HD Buttercup on the the west side of Los Angeles, into our new location in Sherman Oaks! We have really enjoyed being in the Valley and meeting all our new clients (and keeping in touch with the older ones).

A couple months ago, we decided to see if our neighbors were interested in starting an association to help improve the shopping experience along Ventura Boulevard near our store at Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks. What started with three stores has now snowballed into 25 stores and continues to grow.  Our goal is to create a pleasant stretch of Ventura Blvd. that is easy to walk and fun to shop, where customers can shop one store and get discounts in neighboring stores by showing their receipts.
